Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

One of the parenting articles that Helen sent me to read said that one of the things we shouldn’t say to our children is, “Because I said so.”

As humans, when we say such things, it’s often because we don’t have an explanation or a good reason for it.

However, God is different. Our living father always has a great reason to tell us what to do. It’s just that we may not be capable or mature enough to understand it yet.

So when Thomas doubted, Jesus provided evidence so he could believe. He didn’t doubt Jesus, but he wanted to see it for himself. He just didn’t fully understand who Jesus was.

When you know that Jesus loves you and you love him, ask as many questions as possible. Since he loves you and wants you to grow, he will provide you with the truth that will bring us to believe.

This way, we may have an even stronger faith in him.
