The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”  Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’ ”
 
Luke 4:3‭-‬4 

“If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

Obviously, Jesus had power to turn the stone to bread and he must’ve been hungry.

The devil was asking Jesus to take care of himself with his own power rather than deepening on God.

“God gave you knowledge and wisdom, take care of yourself, become rich and enjoy the splendor.”

Jesus was saying, “Living well is not my purpose. I depend on God for everything so I can be a part of God’s etenal plan,” which is equal to ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’

We don’t believe in Jesus just to eat well and be merry. We do so for the life that is eternal.
