When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”
Luke 5:6-8

A large number of fish was a sign, indicating someone of significance. It likely held a deeper spiritual meaning for Peter, which is why he responded, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man.”
Imagine if a similar sign came to you in a profound manner, indicating the presence of the Holy One. What would you do?
Would you immediately start counting the blessings (represented by fish) and calculating the potential profit from them?
Or would you recognize the significance and direct your attention to Jesus?
When Peter focused on Jesus, he was told, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will be a fisher of men.”
In times of adversity, look up to Jesus and listen.
In times of prosperity, look up to Jesus and listen.
