For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 NIV
Written by Jung
I had several different jobs around the campus when I was in school. One of them involved maintaining the auto mechanic shop for the campus fleet. I was supposed to be there at 7 am every morning to clean. However, the problem was that no one told me exactly what to do. The manager, who was a nice but half-deaf guy, didn’t provide me with any guidance or feedback. Since it was a shop, when I attempted to clean, it didn’t appear as if anyone had done anything. So, I just cleaned randomly without any specific plan. After a month or two, I reached a point where I couldn’t tolerate it anymore and decided to quit. I simply stopped showing up to work.
You know what I couldn’t handle anymore? Not knowing whether I was doing a good enough job to deserve the position. The fear of potentially being useless at the job without realizing it terrified me, and that was the primary reason I didn’t want to continue working.
With Jesus, we have assurance. As long as my heart is with Him, qualifications or capabilities don’t matter. I was made for that good work.
We can be at peace and don’t have to stress ourselves over the results or outcomes because everything belongs to Him, including our hearts.
